Ankara railway station is the hub of Turkey's national rail network and the departure point for high-speed YHT services to Istanbul, Konya, Eskişehir, and Sivas, reflecting the capital's central role in the country's ambitious high-speed rail expansion programme. The main building, completed in 1937 in the modernist style promoted by the early Turkish Republic, is flanked by a newer high-speed terminal opened in 2017 to handle the growing YHT traffic. As Turkey continues to extend its high-speed network across Anatolia, Ankara Garı remains the fulcrum of the national system — the station from which the most strategic routes radiate.

TCDD tickets for high-speed trains can be purchased online via the official website or at station kiosks, and discounts are available for youth and senior travellers. Seat reservations are mandatory on YHT services, and trains are generally punctual on the high-speed network.
