Porto São Bento is one of Europe's most beautiful railway stations, its grand entrance hall adorned with more than 20,000 azulejo tiles depicting scenes from Portuguese history and rural life, created by artist Jorge Colaço between 1905 and 1916. Built on the site of a former Benedictine convent, the станция opened in 1916 as the city-centre terminus and today handles пригородный trains on the Douro, Minho, and Aveiro lines. Though intercity trains use Campanhã, São Bento is the destination for most visitors for its extraordinary artistic heritage and its position at the heart of Porto's historic centre.

São Bento is located right in the historic heart of Porto, steps from the Aliados avenue and the cathedral. The station's main exit opens onto Praça Almeida Garrett, from where the ribeira waterfront is a ten-minute walk downhill.

A staffed left-luggage facility is available at São Bento станция, which is a practical option given the station's central location in the tourist heart of Porto. Hours are generally aligned with normal станция operating times.

The scenic Douro линия (Linha do Douro) departs from São Bento toward Caíde and continues up the Douro valley to Régua, Pinhão, and Pocinho. The journey through the terraced wine country is one of Portugal's most celebrated поезд rides, taking around three hours to Régua.
