关于 Edinburgh Waverley

Edinburgh Waverley is the main railway station of the Scottish capital, famously built within the valley between the Old Town's volcanic ridge and the New Town, giving it one of the most dramatic urban settings of any railway station in the world. It is the second-busiest station in Scotland and serves as the terminus for LNER high-speed services on the East Coast Main Line to London Kings Cross, as well as ScotRail intercity services across Scotland. The station is named after Sir Walter Scott's celebrated Waverley novels and sits directly below the Scott Monument, one of Edinburgh's most iconic landmarks.

常见问题

Waverley sits in the valley below the Royal Mile and Princes Street is directly above the station, accessible via escalators to the Waverley Steps or the Market Street exit. The castle and old town are a five-minute walk uphill.
LNER operates direct services to London Kings Cross via the East Coast Main Line in around four hours 20 minutes. ScotRail runs services throughout Scotland, and Avanti West Coast runs cross-country services to the west of England via Carstairs.
Yes, staffed left-luggage facilities and self-service lockers are available at Waverley. This is particularly useful for visitors who want to explore the city before checking into their accommodation.
Edinburgh tram stops on Princes Street are directly above the station and connect Waverley with Edinburgh Airport in around 35 minutes. This makes Waverley an excellent interchange between national rail and airport tram services.
Waverley was built in the drained Nor' Loch, which once served as a defensive moat below Edinburgh Castle. The deep valley setting, between the volcanic Old Town ridge and Princes Street Gardens, means the station is below street level and largely hidden from view until you descend from the Bridges above.
