常见问题

We use distance-based average fares: €0.12/km for short routes (under 200 km), €0.10/km for medium routes (200-500 km), and €0.08/km for long routes (over 500 km). These are European averages — actual prices vary widely. Advance-purchase tickets can be 50-70% cheaper, while last-minute tickets may cost 2-3x more.
We compare against 9 Eurail Global Pass options: 4 days in 1 month, 5 days in 1 month, 7 days in 1 month, 10 days in 2 months, 15 days in 2 months, and continuous passes for 15 days, 22 days, 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months. All are adult rates.
Yes, for some trains. Most high-speed services require a seat reservation in addition to your pass: Eurostar (€30), TGV in France (€10-20), Frecciarossa in Italy (€10-13), AVE in Spain (€10). Regional and intercity trains in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Benelux typically do not require reservations.
Eurail passes are for travelers who reside outside Europe. Interrail passes are for European residents (must have resided in Europe for 6+ months). Coverage and benefits are virtually identical — only eligibility and pricing differ. Our calculator shows Eurail prices as a reference.
Flexi passes (e.g., '4 days in 1 month') give you a set number of travel days within a validity period — you choose which days to use. Continuous passes (e.g., '15 days continuous') allow unlimited travel every day during the validity period. Flexi passes work best for slower itineraries; continuous passes suit intensive travel.
Rail passes generally save money when: (1) you take 4+ long-distance journeys, (2) you travel spontaneously without advance booking, (3) you cross multiple countries. They're less worthwhile for: short trips, routes with cheap advance fares (e.g., Deutsche Bahn Sparpreise), or staying in one country with a good domestic pass.
Currently, the calculator shows standard adult prices. Eurail/Interrail offers discounts for youth (12-27 years, ~25% off), seniors (60+, ~10% off in 1st class), and children (4-11 years, free with a paying adult). Factor these discounts manually if applicable.
This calculator is specifically designed for Eurail/Interrail Global Passes covering 33 European countries. For Japan Rail Pass, Swiss Travel Pass, or other regional passes, the pricing structure is different. We may add these in the future.

方法论

Individual ticket prices are estimated using distance-based average fares: €0.12/km for routes under 200 km, €0.10/km for 200-500 km, and €0.08/km for routes over 500 km. These represent average European rail fares. Actual prices vary significantly by operator, booking time, and demand. Eurail Global Pass prices are approximate adult rates. Seat reservation fees (€5-30 for high-speed trains) are not included in either calculation.
