Kraków Główny is Poland's third busiest railway station and the main terminus for the historic royal capital, set inside a graceful 19th-century neo-Gothic brick structure that was carefully preserved during a major underground expansion completed in 2014. It links Kraków with Warsaw via the Central Main Line, with Wrocław, Katowice, and the Tri-City, and with international destinations including Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. The station's location adjacent to the old Planty park ring and just minutes from the Old Town makes it one of the most conveniently situated city-centre termini in Central Europe.

The station is directly adjacent to the Galeria Krakowska shopping mall and a short walk from the Planty park gardens that ring the Old Town. Trams depart from outside the station to all parts of the city, and the Main Market Square (Rynek Główny) is a ten-minute walk away.
PKP Intercity operates express services to Warsaw in two and a half hours, to Wrocław in approximately three hours, and to Gdańsk and Poznań. International connections link Kraków to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest.
A staffed left-luggage office and lockers are located inside the station, making it practical for day-trippers or passengers arriving before hotel check-in. The service is open daily during station hours.
Regular trains from Kraków Główny run to Oświęcim in around one and a half hours, from where local buses connect to the Auschwitz memorial site. Organised guided tours with transport also depart from near the station in the Old Town.
The station underwent a major renovation and is now one of Poland's best equipped termini. Tram stops on Aleja Słowackiego just outside offer connections across the city, but the Old Town is walkable from the station in under 15 minutes.
