Vilnius railway station is the main rail terminus of Lithuania's capital, an elegant mid-century building that serves as the hub of the country's national rail network with services to Kaunas, Klaipeda, Šiauliai, and cross-border trains to Warsaw, Minsk, and beyond. The station played a significant role in the city's Soviet-era transport planning and has been progressively modernised in the decades since Lithuanian independence. Rail Baltica, the major EU-funded high-speed project linking Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, and Warsaw, is expected to transform the station's international connectivity in the coming years.

Vilnius station is located just south of the Old Town and is a ten-minute walk from Cathedral Square and the main sights. Multiple bus routes and trolleybuses serve the station forecourt, and taxis and ride-hailing apps are widely available.
Lithuanian Railways (LTG) operates intercity services from Vilnius to Kaunas, Klaipeda, and Siauliai. International services connect to Warsaw via the Rail Baltica corridor under development, and to Minsk and Moscow, though the latter routes face current geopolitical restrictions.
A left-luggage office is available at Vilnius station during normal operating hours, making it convenient to store bags before checking into accommodation or after check-out. Coin-operated lockers are also present in the station building.
LTG intercity trains cover the Vilnius to Kaunas route in approximately one hour and twenty minutes, with several services running throughout the day. The journey passes through the Lithuanian countryside and is a comfortable and affordable option.
Rail Baltica, the new European gauge high-speed line linking the Baltic states to Warsaw and beyond, is under construction and will significantly improve international connectivity from Vilnius when completed. For now, long-distance travel typically requires a connection through Warsaw by bus or plane.
