🇨🇭 Linthal

Linthal is the terminus of the SBB Glarus line, reached from Zurich via Ziegelbrucke in about 90 minutes. The train follows the Linth valley deep into the Glarus Alps, ending at this small mountain village.

SBB regional trains on the Ziegelbrucke-Linthal line serve the station. Linthal is the end of the line, from which PostBus services and cable cars provide access to higher alpine areas including Braunwald.

Linthal station is small with basic facilities. The village is the starting point for mountain excursions and the car-free resort of Braunwald, accessible by funicular from nearby.

Braunwald is a car-free mountain resort above Linthal at 1,256 metres, reached by a standseilbahn (funicular) from the valley. The resort offers family skiing in winter and hiking with panoramic views of the Glarus Alps in summer. Its car-free status preserves a tranquil alpine atmosphere.
