🇫🇷 Lunel

Lunel station is about a 10-minute walk from the town centre. Walk north towards the main square and the covered market. The compact Languedoc town is easily explored on foot.

TER Occitanie trains connect Lunel to Montpellier in about 15 minutes and to Nimes in about 20 minutes. The station sits between these two major cities on the busy Languedoc mainline.

Luggage storage at Lunel is limited. The station has a ticket office and basic facilities. The town is small enough for a quick visit.

Lunel is a historic Languedoc market town with an excellent covered market and medieval quarter. The town was once known for its Muscat wine and had an important medieval Jewish community. The Camargue wetlands and Aigues-Mortes are accessible by bus.

Muscat de Lunel is an AOC sweet wine produced in the Lunel area since the Middle Ages. It was praised by Rabelais and exported across medieval Europe. The vineyards surround the town, and tasting opportunities are available at local cooperatives.
