🇨🇭 Oensingen

Oensingen station is centrally located, within walking distance of the main street and the castle ruins above the town. The town sits at the foot of the Jura mountains in Solothurn canton.

SBB InterRegio trains on the Bern-Olten-Zurich line stop at Oensingen. The station is also the starting point of the narrow-gauge Oensingen-Balsthal railway (OeBB), one of Switzerland's shortest railway lines.

Oensingen station has basic facilities including lockers. The station serves both the mainline SBB trains and the OeBB branch line to Balsthal.

The Neu-Bechburg castle ruins above Oensingen offer panoramic Jura views. The Balsthal valley, reached by the OeBB line, has the Holzflue viewing point and hiking trails. The town itself has a baroque parish church and a typical Solothurn Mittelland character.

The Oensingen-Balsthal Bahn (OeBB) is one of Switzerland's shortest railways, running just 3.8 kilometres between Oensingen and Balsthal. Despite its tiny size, it operates as an independent railway company and provides important commuter connections to the SBB mainline.
