🇨🇭 Realp

Realp is on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn line between Andermatt and Brig, about 10 minutes from Andermatt. The station sits at 1,538 metres at the foot of the Furka Pass.

Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn operates regional services through Realp. The station is also the eastern terminus of the Furka Steam Railway (DFB), a heritage railway running over the Furka Pass in summer.

Realp station has limited facilities. The village is small and serves primarily as a base for the Furka Steam Railway and access to the Furka and Oberalp passes.

The Dampfbahn Furka-Bergstrecke (DFB) is a heritage steam railway that operates over the Furka Pass between Realp and Oberwald in summer. The line was made famous as a James Bond filming location. Steam trains cross the pass at 2,160 metres with views of the Rhone Glacier.

The Furka Pass road and the Furka Steam Railway are the main attractions. The Rhone Glacier, source of the river Rhone, is accessible over the pass. Realp is also near the Gotthard region with its historic pass routes and military fortifications.
