Saanen is one stop from Gstaad on the MOB line between Montreux and Zweisimmen. The journey from Montreux takes about 80 minutes on the scenic Golden Pass route. The station serves the quieter end of the Saanenland valley.

MOB trains on the Montreux-Zweisimmen line serve Saanen. The GoldenPass panoramic trains and the new GoldenPass Express both stop here. Regional services provide connections to Gstaad and Chateau-d'Oex.

Saanen station is small with limited facilities. The village centre is within walking distance. For more extensive services, Gstaad station is just one stop away.

Saanen is known for its picturesque traditional wooden chalets and the 11th-century Romanesque church. The village hosts part of the Menuhin Festival concerts in summer. The Saanen airfield occasionally hosts glider events with stunning alpine backdrops.

Saanen is the administrative centre of the municipality that includes Gstaad, despite being quieter and more traditional. While Gstaad is the famous resort, Saanen offers a more authentic Bernese Oberland village experience at lower prices, with the same mountain access.
