Gdańsk Główny is the Hauptbahnhof of Polen's Baltic port city, a handsome neo-Gothic red-brick structure built by the PRusslandn state railways in 1900 that reflects the city's centuries-long German Hanseatic heritage. It serves as the hub for Intercity-Züge to Warschau and Kraków sowie the SKM Tricity suburban Netz verbindend Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot along the Ostseeküste. The station's proximity to the historisch Altstadt and the famous Solidarity shipyards makes it der primäre Ankunft point for visitors to one of Polen's most historischally significant cities.
