Warschau Central is one of Europe's deepest and most unusual stations, with its main Bahnsteige buried up to 15 metres underground beneath the Stadtzentrum. The station was built in the 1970s in the communist era and is known for its labyrinthine underpasses and brutalist aesthetic.
Staffed Gepäckaufbewahrungseinrichtungen and a large bank of Selbstbedienungsschließfächer sind verfügbar inside the station. The underground location can be confusing for first-time visitors, so follow the Przechowalnia Bagażu signs in the Haupthalle.
PKP Intercity operates the Chopin Nachtzug to Wien, EuroCity services to Prag and Berlin, and Expresszüge to Budapest and Kyiv. Domestic EIP (Express Intercity Premium) trains also run from Centralna to Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Poznań.
The station's underground layout can be disorienting, so allow extra time for navigation, besonders when making Verbindungen. Bahnsteige are on the lowest level, with Fahrkartenschalter and Halle one level up, and street-level exits above that.
