Sachseln est une gare située dans le canton d'Obwald, en Suisse centrale, sur la rive ouest du lac de Sarnen dans la vallée de la Sarner Aa. Elle est desservie par les trains Zentralbahn sur la route du Luzern–Interlaken Express et par des services régionaux entre Luzern et Meiringen ou Interlaken Ost, offrant de splendides panoramas sur les montagnes. Le village de Sachseln est un lieu de pèlerinage catholique, abritant le sanctuaire de saint Nicolas de Flüe, patron de la Suisse.

Sachseln station is about a 5-minute walk from the village centre and the lakeside. Walk towards the church and Lake Sarnen. The village sits on the southern shore of Lake Sarnen in Obwalden canton.

Zentralbahn trains on the Lucerne-Meiringen line stop at Sachseln. The journey to Lucerne takes about 25 minutes. The station is between Sarnen and Giswil on the Brunig line.

Sachseln station has basic facilities. The village is small and walkable. The main attraction, the Bruder Klaus church and hermitage, is accessible from the village centre.

Sachseln is the burial place of Saint Nicholas of Flue (Bruder Klaus), Switzerland's patron saint. The baroque parish church houses his tomb and is a pilgrimage site. Lake Sarnen offers swimming and boating, and the Flue Ranft hermitage where the saint lived is a scenic walk away.

Nicholas of Flue (1417-1487), known as Bruder Klaus, is Switzerland's patron saint. A farmer and mystic who lived as a hermit in the Ranft gorge near Sachseln, he is credited with preventing civil war among the Swiss cantons in 1481. His hermitage and tomb remain important pilgrimage destinations.
