鉄道駅
メキシコ has undergone a significant rail revival under recent government investment. The flagship project is the Tren Maya -- a 1,554 km tourist and 通勤 rail circuit connecting Cancun, Tulum, Palenque, Campeche, and Merida across the Yucatan Peninsula, inaugurated in December 2023. The Tren Interurbano メキシコ-Toluca was under construction to connect メキシコシティ to Toluca in under 40 minutes. Ferromex and Kansas City Southern operate extensive freight railways, but メキシコ lacks significant インターシティ passenger rail outside these new projects. メキシコシティ has the most developed urban rail system in Latin America: the Metro (12 lines, around 5 million daily passengers), the Metrobus BRT, the Tren Ligero light rail, and the Suburbano 通勤 rail to Cuautitlan. The Suburbano 結びます Buenavista station in central CDMX to the State of メキシコ suburbs in 52 minutes. Many Mexican cities including Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Leon have urban metro or light rail systems of varying extent. The Chihuahua al Pacifico Railway (El Chepe) remains メキシコ's most iconic rail journey, traversing the Copper Canyon (Barranca del Cobre) from Chihuahua to Los Mochis through one of North America's most dramatic landscapes. The full 655 km journey takes about 16 時間 and crosses 37 bridges and 87 tunnels. Two levels of service are operated: the premium Expreso and the more affordable Regional.
