Denmark's rail network is operated by DSB (Danske Statsbaner) for long-distance and commuter services, alongside private regional operators like Arriva and Nordjyske Jernbaner. The country's geography -- consisting of the Jutland peninsula and numerous islands -- requires extensive ferry connections, though the Oresund Bridge (2000) links Copenhagen directly to Malmo, Sweden, enabling through rail services. DSB's InterCity and Intercity Lynette (ICL) trains connect Copenhagen to Aarhus in 3 hours, Odense in 1h15m, and Aalborg in 3h30m. Trains reach up to 200 km/h on the Copenhagen-Fredericia corridor. Copenhagen's S-tog (suburban railway) and Metro form an integrated urban transit network. The Metro (driverless) connects the airport to the city centre in 15 minutes and runs 24/7. DSB is working on the Femern Belt Fixed Link project -- a proposed 18 km immersed tunnel between Denmark and Germany under the Fehmarn Belt -- which would dramatically reduce Hamburg-Copenhagen journey times from 5 to 2.5 hours. Tickets are purchased via dsb.dk or the DSB app. Rejsekort (travel card) is used for commuter and regional travel. The Orange ticket (booked 7 days ahead) offers significant savings on intercity journeys. Denmark is part of the Eurail/Interrail Global Pass. The Oresund Bridge toll is not included in standard rail fares and requires an Oresund-specific supplement or through-ticket.
