Berlin Ostbahnhof, the former East Berlin main station, is today one of the principal long-distance stops in the German capital, situated along the Spree river in the vibrant Friedrichshain district. It serves as a stop for many ICE and IC trains on the east-west corridor through Berlin, offering connections to Frankfurt, Hamburg, and eastward to Warsaw and beyond. Following German reunification the station was substantially modernised, and its surrounding area has become one of Berlin's most culturally active neighbourhoods.

S-Bahn lines S3, S5, S7, and S75 connect Ostbahnhof to Alexanderplatz in about three minutes and to Berlin Hbf in around 10 minutes. The U-Bahn, trams, and buses outside the station provide onward connections across East Berlin.
Yes, the East Side Gallery, the longest preserved stretch of the Berlin Wall, is just a five-minute walk south of the station along the Spree riverbank. It is one of the most popular sights in Berlin and easily combined with arrival or departure from Ostbahnhof.
Berlin Ostbahnhof handles many long-distance DB intercity and IC trains on the Berlin-Warsaw and Berlin-Frankfurt corridors. Some night trains and international services also call here, though Berlin Hbf remains the primary long-distance hub.
Self-service luggage lockers are available inside the station. The station concourse also has a supermarket and several cafes, making it convenient for a short stop before or after your train.
Berlin Hbf is approximately four kilometres to the west and reachable in about 10 minutes by S-Bahn. If your long-distance train departs from Hbf rather than Ostbahnhof, the S-Bahn connection is straightforward and very frequent.
