Book Sparpreis fares at least 14 days in advance via DB Navigator or bahn.de. Sparpreis tickets are non-refundable (or refundable for a fee) and seat-specific. Super Sparpreis fares, available further in advance, offer the lowest prices -- often EUR 17.90 for Frankfurt-Berlin.

DB long-distance punctuality has been around 65-75% in recent years (defined as arriving within 6 minutes of schedule), below the European average. Regional services perform somewhat better. Delays over 60 minutes entitle passengers to a 25% refund; delays over 120 minutes entitle a 50% refund under EU regulation.

Yes. Regional trains (RE, RB, S-Bahn) allow bicycles for a small fee (typically EUR 5-6 per journey). ICE trains have limited bicycle spaces (foldable bikes only in some cases) that must be reserved in advance. A Fahrrad-Ticket covering the full day on regional networks costs around EUR 5-9.
