Berlin Südkreuz is a modern through station in the southern part of the German capital, opened in its current form in the early 2000s as part of the reorganisation of Berlin's rail network following reunification. It serves as a hub where several S-Bahn lines, regional trains, and long-distance ICE and IC services converge, connecting southern Berlin with the city centre and the broader national rail network. The station's clean, contemporary architecture and good interchange facilities have made it one of the more functional stops on the Berlin rail network.

S-Bahn lines S41, S42, and S45 serve Sudkreuz and connect to the inner ring, reaching Ostkreuz or Westkreuz in around 15 minutes. From there you can change onto lines heading to Alexanderplatz or Berlin Hbf.
Berlin Sudkreuz is a modern station on the south Berlin rail corridor and handles a mix of S-Bahn, regional RE trains, and some long-distance IC services passing through between Hamburg and Munich or Dresden. It is particularly useful for travellers staying in the Schoneberg or Tempelhof districts.
The station is primarily a transit hub rather than a tourism gateway, but Tempelhof Field, a vast public park on the former airport runway, is about 2 km away. The Schoneberg neighbourhood with its cafes and markets is also a short S-Bahn or bus ride away.
A park-and-ride facility and a bike-sharing station are available at Sudkreuz, making it popular with commuters from the southern suburbs. The station is well integrated into the Berlin VBB transport network.
Berlin Sudkreuz has a modest selection of shops and a cafe on the concourse level. It is a functional modern station rather than a shopping hub, so for extensive dining or retail options the nearby Schoneberg district is a better option.
