BLS trains connect Belp to Bern in about 10 minutes and to Thun in about 20 minutes on the Bern-Thun line. The frequent service makes it a popular commuter station for the Bern metropolitan area.

Belp station has basic commuter facilities. The station serves both the town and provides a rail connection near Bern Airport, though the airport itself is better reached by bus.

Belp has a 12th-century castle and a pleasant old village centre. The Gurbe river valley south of Belp offers cycling paths. The Gurten mountain above Bern, accessible from nearby, provides panoramic Alpine views. Bern itself is just 10 minutes by train.

While Belp is the closest town to Bern Airport (officially Bern-Belp), the airport is about 2 kilometres from the station and not directly connected by rail. Airport buses run from Bern station. The airport handles seasonal charter and some scheduled flights.
