Montecatini Centro station is about a 10-minute walk from the main thermal establishments. Walk south along Viale Verdi, the tree-lined boulevard, to reach the historic spa park and the grand thermal buildings.

Trenitalia regional trains connect Montecatini to Florence in about one hour and to Lucca in about 30 minutes. The station is on the Florence-Lucca-Viareggio line. For high-speed trains, nearby Montecatini-Monsummano is used by some services.

Luggage storage at the station is limited. The town is a spa resort with many hotels that accommodate early arrivals. The station has a ticket office and basic waiting facilities.

Montecatini Terme is one of Italy's most elegant spa towns, with nine thermal establishments in a landscaped park. The Art Nouveau Tettuccio spa is the most famous. A funicular railway climbs to the medieval hilltop village of Montecatini Alto.

The funicular railway from Montecatini Terme to Montecatini Alto has been operating since 1898 and is one of the oldest in Italy. It climbs to the medieval village perched on a hill above the spa town, offering panoramic views of the Valdinievole and the Tuscan countryside.
