🇫🇷 Sarreguemines

Sarreguemines station is centrally located, about a 5-minute walk from the old town and the confluence of the Sarre and Blies rivers. The town centre is compact and walkable.

TER Grand Est trains connect Sarreguemines to Strasbourg in about 90 minutes via Haguenau. The Saarbahn tram-train crosses into Germany, running to Saarbrucken in about 70 minutes. This unique cross-border tram-train is one of few such services in Europe.

Luggage storage at Sarreguemines is limited. The station has a ticket office and basic facilities. The town is small enough to visit comfortably in half a day.

Sarreguemines is famous for its faience pottery, produced here since the 18th century. The Musee des Techniques Faencieres showcases this heritage. The confluence gardens where the Sarre and Blies meet are pleasant for walks. The town's Franco-German character is evident in its architecture and cuisine.

The Saarbahn is a unique cross-border tram-train that runs from Sarreguemines in France to Saarbrucken in Germany, transitioning from the French rail network to German street tramway tracks. It is one of Europe's few regular international tram-train services, symbolising Franco-German cooperation.
