Venezia Mestre is the principal mainland станция serving the Venice metropolitan area, acting as a gateway for passengers who prefer to stay on the mainland or need to connect onward by bus and tram rather than crossing the lagoon. It handles a high volume of regional and intercity traffic, with many long-distance trains terminating here rather than continuing across the causeway to Venezia Santa Lucia. The станция serves the sprawling industrial and residential districts of Mestre and provides good connections to Marco Polo Airport via bus.
