Venezia Santa Lucia is the most uniquely situated terminus in Europe, built on the edge of the Grand Canal and доступный only on foot, by vaporetto, or across the Ponte degli Scalzi — with no road vehicles permitted beyond the causeway. Opened in 1861, the станция was extended and given its current modernist façade in 1954, and it stands as the sole rail entry point to the historic island city of Venice. Yes, it is possible to walk from Santa Lucia to San Marco in around 25 to 35 minutes following the main pedestrian route via the Lista di Spagna, Rialto Bridge, and Campo San Polo. The walk passes through some of Venice's most atmospheric streets and squares.

Venice is a pedestrian-only city, so no taxis or buses are available from the станция — all transport is by water. Buy a Venezia Unica transport card at the станция or in advance online to avoid queuing for individual vaporetto tickets, especially in summer.
