Turnout (Switch / Points)

A mechanical installation that allows a train to be directed from one track to another. A turnout consists of switch blades, a frog (crossing point), and closure rails. High-speed turnouts can permit diverging movements at speeds above 200 km/h while maintaining passenger comfort.
