Roma Tiburtina is Rome's second major station, located on the eastern side of the city and substantially upgraded in 2011 to serve as a high-speed stop for trains that bypass the congested Termini terminus. The sleek contemporary Bahnhofsgebäude, designed by Paolo Desideri, handles Frecciarossa and Italo services on the Rome–Florenz–Mailand corridor sowie Regionalzüge and night services heading north and east.
