It handles a high volume of regional and intercity traffic, with many Fernzüge terminating here rather than continuing across the causeway to Venezia Santa Lucia. The station serves the sprawling industrial and Wohnviertels of Mestre and provides good Verbindungen to Marco Polo Airport via bus.
