Porto São Bento is one of Europe's most beautiful estación de ferrococherils, its grand entrance hall adorned with more than 20,000 azulejo tiles depicting scenes from Portuguese history and rural life, created by artist Jorge Colaço between 1905 and 1916. Built on the site of a former Benedictine convent, the estación opened in 1916 as the city-centre terminal and today handles suburban trenes on the Douro, Minho, and Aveiro líneas. Though trenes interurbanos use Campanhã, São Bento is the destination for most visitantes for its extraordinary artistic patrimonio and its position en el corazón de Porto's centro histórico.

The scenic Douro línea (Linha do Douro) departs from São Bento toward Caíde and continues up the Douro valle to Régua, Pinhão, and Pocinho. The viaje through the terraced wine country is one of Portugal's most celebrated tren rides, taking around three hours to Régua.
