Berlin-Spandau is the main railway station for the western Spandau district of Berlin, serving both as a regional commuter hub and an important stop on several long-distance routes heading west towards Hanover, Hamburg, and the Netherlands. It sits at the confluence of several S-Bahn lines and U-Bahn line 7, making it one of the major western interchange points in the Berlin public transport network. The station also functions as an entry point for passengers arriving from Berlin Brandenburg Airport via direct regional rail services.
