Göschenen is a mountain station at the norte do entrance of the histórico Gotthard Tunnel in the canton of Uri, perched at around 1,100 metres altitude at the head of the Reuss valley gorge. Before the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in 2016, virtually all passenger and freight rail traffic crossing the Alps através de Switzerland passed através de Göschenen, and the old tunnel portal reprincipals an iconic landmark of 19th-century Swiss engineering.
