Thiers is a station serving the histórico town of Thiers in the Puy-de-Dôme partemment of the Auvergne região in central France, a town long renomado as the cutlery capital of France. TER serviços regiãoais conectam Thiers ao longo da Ambert line circulamning entre Clermont-Ferrand and Ambert, providing acesso to the volcanic Livradois foothills ao leste de the Auvergne capital. The lower station is ligamed to the old hilltop town by a funicular railway, making the arrival experience distinctive among French regiãoal stations.

TER Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes trains connect Thiers to Clermont-Ferrand in about 30 minutes and to Saint-Etienne in about 90 minutes. The station is on the Clermont-Lyon line.

Thiers has produced knives and cutlery since the 14th century, using the fast-flowing Durolle river to power grinding wheels. Today it still produces about 70% of France's knives, from Laguiole pocket knives to professional kitchen blades. The Vallee des Rouets preserves the historic workshops.
