About Thiers

Thiers is a station serving the historic town of Thiers in the Puy-de-Dôme department of the Auvergne region in central France, a town long renowned as the cutlery capital of France. TER regional services connect Thiers along the Ambert line running between Clermont-Ferrand and Ambert, providing access to the volcanic Livradois foothills east of the Auvergne capital. The lower station is linked to the old hilltop town by a funicular railway, making the arrival experience distinctive among French regional stations.
