Ancona Centrale is located near the port area, about a 15-minute walk uphill to the historic centre and cathedral. Local buses connect the station to various parts of the city. The Passetto beach area is accessible by bus in about 10 minutes.
Ancona is served by Trenitalia Frecce high-speed trains to Rome and Milan, as well as InterCity services along the Adriatic coast to Rimini, Bologna, and Lecce. Regional trains connect to smaller Marche towns and inland destinations like Fabriano and Foligno.
Luggage storage facilities are available at the station. The station also has a ticket office, bar, and newsstand. Its proximity to the ferry port makes storage useful for travellers connecting to ferries to Croatia or Greece.
The Romanesque Cathedral of San Ciriaco sits on the hilltop above the old town with panoramic Adriatic views. The Trajan Arch at the port dates to 115 AD. The nearby Conero Riviera offers some of the finest beaches on the Adriatic, reachable by bus from the station.
Ancona's ferry terminal is adjacent to the railway station, making rail-ferry connections straightforward. Ferries depart regularly to Split and other Croatian ports, as well as to Igoumenitsa and Patras in Greece. The short walk between platforms and quay takes about 10 minutes.
