It crosses the Pont Gisclard suspension bridge and the Pont Sejourne viaduct, reaching 1,593 metres at Bolquere, the highest SNCF station.
The station is in the Cerdagne, a high plateau shared between France and Spain. The solar furnace at Font-Romeu, cross-country skiing, and the medieval enclave of Llivia (a Spanish town entirely surrounded by France) are nearby. The Pyrenean landscapes are dramatic year-round.
