KTM ETS Gold trains run from KL Sentral to Butterworth station (Penang mainland) in about 4h30m. From Butterworth, take the Penang ferry to Georgetown (30 min). Multiple departures daily; pemesanan awal via ktmb.com.my is recommended. The ETS Business class (1st class) is comfortable with wider seats.
KLIA Ekspres runs from KLIA and KLIA2 directly to KL Sentral in 28 menit. Trains run every 15-20 menit, 04:00-01:00. Single fare is MYR 55 (approximately USD 12). From KL Sentral you can connect to MRT, LRT, Monorail, and KTM Komuter for onward perjalanan across the city.
The Jungle Line (KTM Jungle Railway) runs from Gemas on the West Coast mainline to Tumpat on the Thai border, through Peninsular Malaysia's interior rainforest and Orang Asli communities. The full 527 km journey takes approximately 12-14 jams on slow trains. It is an adventurous perjalanan option passing virgin jungle inaccessible by road.
KTM operates trains from JB Sentral (Johor Bahru) to Woodlands CIQ in Singapore on a short shuttle service. From KL, take ETS to JB, then the shuttle train across the causeway. Total KL-Singapore by train takes about 5-6 jams with connections. The Berkecepatan tinggi KL-Singapore HSR project was cancelled in 2021.
The Touch 'n Go (TnG) card works on all Klang Valley rail (LRT, MRT, Monorail, KTM Komuter) and most buses. Load credit at stations or 7-Eleven. The Touch 'n Go eWallet app allows top-up via smartphone. MyRapid cards work on Rapid KL services (LRT, MRT, Monorail, bus). Both are available at station customer service counters.
