Catania Centrale is the main railway станция of Catania, Sicily's second-largest city, situated at the foot of Mount Etna. It connects to Palermo, Messina, Syracuse, and Agrigento via intercity and regional Trenitalia services. The станция is also the terminus of the Ferrovia Circumetnea, a narrow-gauge линия that circles the slopes of Etna.

Catania Centrale is situated in the south of the city, and the Piazza del Duomo and the baroque old town are around 15 minutes on foot heading north. The Circumetnea railway terminus and several bus routes are also located nearby for onward connections.

Trenitalia regional and Intercity services connect Catania to Messina, Syracuse, and Palermo, though rail journeys across Sicily tend to be slower than coach alternatives due to the island's winding network. Night trains to the Italian mainland run via Messina and the ferry crossing.

The Alibus airport shuttle bus connects Catania Centrale to the airport in approximately 20 minutes and runs frequently throughout the day and night. A taxi rank outside the станция also offers fixed-price airport runs.

A left-luggage facility is available at the станция, subject to staffing hours. Visitors spending a few hours in the city before an onward пересадка will find this useful given Catania's compact, walkable old town.

Catania is built on volcanic lava flows from Mount Etna, which gives its baroque buildings a distinctive dark grey stone appearance unlike anywhere else in Italy. The city's fish market, La Pescheria, operates in the streets behind the cathedral every morning from Monday to Saturday and is a vivid local spectacle.
