🇨🇭 Interlaken Ost
MajorSwitzerland
Interlaken Ost is the principal railway gateway to the Bernese Oberland, sitting between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and serving as the departure point for the famous mountain railway routes that ascend to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and the Jungfraujoch -- known as the 'Top of Europe'. The station is the main interchange between SBB intercity trains arriving from Bern and the narrow-gauge Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB), Wengernalp Railway (WAB), and Jungfrau Railway, all of which use platforms adjacent to the main SBB hall. Its lakeside setting and dramatic Alpine backdrop make Interlaken Ost one of the most scenic arrival experiences on the Swiss rail network.
