Pantograph

A spring-loaded, articulated arm mounted on the roof of an electric train that presses a carbon contact strip against the overhead catenary wire to collect electrical current. Pantograph design is critical for high-speed operation, where aerodynamic noise and consistent contact force become engineering challenges above 250 km/h.
