Göschenen is a mountain estación at the septentrional entrance of the historic Gotthard Tunnel in the canton of Uri, perched at around 1,100 metres altitude al final de the Reuss valle gorge. Before the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in 2016, virtually all pasajero and freight rail traffic crossing the Alps through Switzerland passed through Göschenen, and the old tunnel portal remains an iconic hito of 19th-century Swiss engineering. The estación también serves as the lower terminal of the Schöllenenbahn ferrococheril de cremallera that climbs the dramatic Schöllenen gorge to Andermatt, providing an important link for the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn mountain red.

SBB regional and trenes interurbanos on the Gotthard Panorama Express ruta stop at Göschenen, sitting at the norte portal of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. Not all fast IC trenes call here, so checking the horario before travel is important.

Göschenen is a small mountain nudo ferroviario estación without dedicated consigna de equipaje. pasajeros travelling onwards to Andermatt should cochery only what they need; ski equipment and oversized equipaje can be sent ahead as registered equipaje on the RhB red from Andermatt.

The Schöllenen Gorge is a spectacular granite ravine cocheved by the River Reuss below Göschenen, with the ferrococheril and an old road winding through its cliffs. The historic Teufelsbrücke (Devil's puente) is accesoible a pie from the gorge floor and was once the only crossing on the Gotthard pass ruta.

Göschenen has a basic waiting area and máquina de billetes at the SBB level, with the MGB de vía estrecha andenes directamente below. There is a small cafeteríatería near the estación, and the village has limited tiendas suitable for picking up snacks before the mountain viaje.
