Lauterbrunnen estación lies al pie de one of Switzerland's most spectacular valles in the Bernese Oberland, surrounded by torreing cliffs and cascadas. It is served by the Berner Oberland-Bahn from Interlaken and acts as the intercambiador point for the ferrococheril de cremalleras ascending to Mürren and Wengen.

Lauterbrunnen is reached by BOB (Berner Oberland-Bahnen) train from Interlaken Ost, with the journey taking about 20 minutes. At Interlaken Ost you connect from mainline SBB services from Bern, Lucerne, or Zurich. The ride into the valley is spectacularly scenic.
Lauterbrunnen is a key interchange for the Jungfrau Region. The WAB cog railway to Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg (for the Jungfraujoch) departs from here. The BLM cable car to Grutschalp and Murren also starts at the station. It is the gateway to the Jungfrau UNESCO area.
Luggage lockers are available at Lauterbrunnen station. The station has a ticket counter and basic amenities. Given the village's role as a hiking hub, storage is useful for day hikers heading up to car-free Wengen or Murren.

Lauterbrunnen is one of the two main bases for the Jungfrau Region, alongside Grindelwald. It offers the most direct cog railway route to Kleine Scheidegg and the Jungfraujoch, and provides access to car-free Murren. The valley setting is considered one of the most beautiful in the Alps.
