St-Imier est une gare dans le district du Jura bernois dans le canton de Berne, desservant l'un des principaux centres de l'horlogerie suisse dans la longue Vallée de Saint-Imier dans le massif du Jura. Les services régionaux sur la ligne BLS relient St-Imier à Biel/Bienne au nord et à La Chaux-de-Fonds par le col de la Tête-de-Ran, reliant ainsi les villes horlogères les plus importantes du Jura suisse. La vallée est associée à la Fédération jurassienne anarchiste, et le musée de la montre de la ville témoigne du patrimoine horloger séculaire de la région.

Saint-Imier is on the BLS line between Biel/Bienne and La Chaux-de-Fonds, about 25 minutes from Biel. The line passes through the Vallon de Saint-Imier, a scenic valley in the Bernese Jura.
BLS regional trains on the Biel-La Chaux-de-Fonds line serve Saint-Imier. The station provides connections to the wider Swiss network at Biel and to the watchmaking towns of the Jura at the other end.
Saint-Imier station is small with basic facilities. The town centre is within walking distance. The funicular to Mont-Soleil, with its panoramic views and solar power installations, departs from near the station.

Saint-Imier is the birthplace of Longines, one of Switzerland's most prestigious watch brands, founded by Auguste Agassiz in 1832. The town is also notable in political history as the site of the 1872 congress of the anti-authoritarian International, attended by Mikhail Bakunin.
