프루티겐 소개

Frutigen is a station in the Bernese Oberland serving the small town at the entrance to the Kandertal valley, on the BLS railway line between Spiez and Kandersteg. It lies on the historic route that descends to the Lötschberg Tunnel portal at Kandersteg, one of the main transalpine rail arteries linking the Bernese Mittelland with Valais and onward to Italy. Frutigen's surrounding landscape of Alpine meadows and the nearby Tropenhaus Frutigen — a tropical greenhouse heated by waste warmth from the Lötschberg Base Tunnel — give the station an unexpectedly exotic dimension.

Frutigen is a small station without staffed luggage storage. Self-service lockers may not be available, so it is best to travel light or arrange storage through your accommodation.

BLS operates regional services on the Bern–Lötschberg–Simplon line through Frutigen, with connections toward Bern to the north and Brig to the south. The station also serves as a railhead for PostBus routes into the Kandertal and Engstligental valleys.

Frutigen is popular with hikers and cyclists exploring the Kandertal valley, with well-marked trails leading toward Kandersteg and the Blausee lake. In winter, bus connections provide access to the Adelboden–Lenk ski region, one of the largest in the Bernese Oberland.

The Tropenhaus Frutigen is a unique tropical greenhouse complex heated by warm water from the Lötschberg base tunnel, and it is located around two kilometres from the station. It cultivates sturgeon, tropical fruit, and vegetables in an unusual Alpine setting, and is open for guided tours and restaurant dining.
