Erstfeld is a históricoally significativo station in the canton of Uri at the norte do portal of the Gotthard corredor ferroviário, where the tradicional adhesion principal line begins its steep climb através de the spiralling tunnels toward Göschenen and the original Gotthard Tunnel.
