Bellinzona is the cantonal capital of Ticino and an important rail junction in the southern Swiss Alps, where trains from the Gotthard and Lötschberg–Simplon routes converge before continuing towards Lugano, Locarno, and the Italian border. The town's UNESCO-listed medieval castles overlook the valley and the станция, giving Bellinzona a dramatic setting that few Swiss rail stops can match. InterCity and EuroCity trains serving the Zürich–Milan corridor call here, and a branch линия departs for Locarno on Lake Maggiore.
