Göschenen is a mountain ga at the northern entrance of the historic Gotthard Tunnel in the canton of Uri, perched at around 1,100 metres altitude at the head of the Reuss valley gorge. Before the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel in 2016, virtually all hành khách and freight lưu lượng đường sắt crossing the Alps through Switzerland passed through Göschenen, and the old tunnel portal remains an iconic landmark of 19th-century Swiss engineering. SBB regional and InterCity trains on the Gotthard Panorama Express route stop at Göschenen, sitting at the north portal of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. Not all fast tàu IC call here, so checking the timetable before travel is important.
