Pontresina is a junction ga on the Rhaetian Railway in the Upper Engadine, positioned where the main Albula line from Chur and St. Moritz splits off towards the celebrated Bernina line that crosses the Alps to Tirano in Italy. The village of Pontresina is a quanh năm Alpine resort offering skiing in winter and spectacular hiking and mountaineering in summer, with direct access to the Morteratsch glacier and the Diavolezza cable car. Pontresina and St Moritz are linked by frequent Rhaetian Railway (RhB) services taking around ten minutes. The two resort villages are close neighbours in the Upper Engadine, and the train is the most convenient way to move between them.

Pontresina is on the RhB Bernina line, which runs south over the Bernina Pass to Tirano in Italy — one of the world's most scenic UNESCO-listed đường sắt journeys. The ga is also on the Samedan branch, providing kết nối to Chur via the Albula line.
