Giswil is a estación in the canton of Obwalden in central Switzerland, lying in the Sarner Aa valle on the Brünig línea connecting Lucerne with Interlaken. The de vía estrecha metre-gauge Zentralbahn operates the línea, which climbs over the Brünig Pass through some of the finest Alpine scenery in central Switzerland. Giswil village and its surrounding area offer acceso to walking rutas and the Giswil Lakes nature reserve, attracting visitantes year-round.

The Brunig line is a metre-gauge railway crossing the Brunig Pass between Lucerne and the Bernese Oberland. It is unique as the only SBB (now Zentralbahn) narrow-gauge mainline. Giswil is on the approach to the pass, with the line climbing steeply through alpine scenery.
