Pontresina is a nudo ferroviario estación on the Rhaetian ferrococheril in the Upper Engadine, positioned where the main Albula línea from Chur and St. Moritz splits off towards the celebrated Bernina línea that crosses the Alps to Tirano in Italy. The village of Pontresina is a year-round Alpine resort offering esquí in winter and spectacular senderismo and mountaineering in summer, with direct acceso to the Morteratsch glaciar and the Diavolezza teleférico. Rhaetian ferrococheril panoramic Express trenes on the Bernina ruta pass through here, offering one of the finest rail viajes in the world at altitudes exceeding 2,000 metres.
