Reggio Emilia's main station is centrally located, just a short walk from Piazza Prampolini and the historic centre. Note that the high-speed Mediopadana station is a separate station outside the city, connected by shuttle bus.
Trenitalia regional trains connect Reggio Emilia to Parma, Modena, and Bologna on the Milan-Bologna line. For high-speed Frecciarossa services, passengers use the Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana station, designed by Santiago Calatrava, located about 4 kilometres north of the city.
