Saarbrücken Hbf is the main railway station of Germany's Saarland state, located directly on the French border and serving as one of the most important Franco-German rail interchange points on the western European network. The station is served by ICE high-speed trains on the Paris–Kaiserslautern–Frankfurt corridor, by TGV services toward Strasbourg and Metz, and by regional trains across the Saarland and into Lorraine, reflecting the deep cross-border ties of this historically contested region. A major redevelopment in the 1990s replaced the post-war station building with a modern glass-and-steel structure that has become the gateway to a regenerated city centre.
